Your Questions. Our Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
You will find answers to all of your most common Electrical Services related questions located here.
How much do you charge?
We charge per point, not per hour. You’ll receive a fixed, upfront quote before any work begins – so there are no hidden costs or surprises. The price only changes if additional work is added.
My power has tripped – what should I do?
Power tripping is often caused by a faulty appliance. If it’s safe to do so, unplug all devices, reset the circuit breaker or RCD, and plug items back in one by one. If the fault returns, you’ve likely found the culprit. If that doesn’t work, call us straight away.
Can you complete the work on the same day?
Yes, most jobs are booked with a 2-hour arrival window. If the work is straightforward, we aim to complete it the same day. For larger projects, we’ll arrange a convenient follow-up appointment.
What causes electric shocks?
Electric shocks can be caused by faulty appliances, exposed wires, poor installations, or missing RCD protection. If you ever suspect something unsafe, don’t wait – contact us immediately.
Will you clean up after finishing?
Absolutely. We treat your home or business with respect and always clean up after ourselves. Dust sheets and protective measures are standard on every job.
Do I need smoke alarms in my home?
Yes. Under UK building regulations, mains-powered smoke alarms are mandatory in all new-build homes and major renovations. For rented properties, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are also a legal requirement.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
We charge a £90 call-out fee for assessment and quoting. If you go ahead with the job, this fee is fully waived.
Can I replace a socket or light switch myself?
No. All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified and competent electrician. DIY electrical work is illegal, dangerous, and could invalidate your insurance.
What areas do you cover?
We cover a wide range of areas across Hackney (Haggerston, Canonbury, De Beauvoir Town, Stoke Newington, Clapton, Shoreditch, Islington, Hoxton, London Fields, Highbury, Bethnal Green and surrounding suburbs) and Homerton (Hackney Wick, Lower Clapton, Upper Clapton, Newington Green, Finsbury Park, Highbury Fields, Kingsland, Angel, Old Street). To see if we service your location give us a call.
My lights are flickering. What does that mean?
Flickering could be caused by a failing bulb, a loose connection, or a wiring fault. If the issue persists, get it checked out to avoid potential hazards.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes – we provide a lifetime workmanship warranty on all installations. All materials are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, typically between 1–10 years.
My hot water isn’t working – can you help?
Yes. Faults in water heaters are often due to failed elements or thermostats. We can inspect, diagnose, and repair or replace components as needed.
Do you work weekends?
Yes, we offer weekend appointments at no extra charge.
My power trips when I use multiple appliances. Why?
This is likely due to an overloaded circuit – common in older homes. The solution is to install an additional circuit dedicated to high-powered devices.
Are your electricians qualified?
Yes. All our electricians are fully qualified and competent, with up-to-date registration and training. Safety is our number one priority.
How long does it take to install a socket?
It depends on the location and complexity (e.g., access to nearby power). Once we assess the site, we’ll give you an accurate timeframe.
Will I receive an Electrical Safety Certificate?
Yes – if the work requires certification (like new installations or additions), we will issue a Minor Works or Electrical Installation Certificate. Replacements (like-for-like) may not require one, but we’ll always issue a certificate upon request.
I have ceramic fuses in my fusebox – are these safe?
No. Ceramic fuses are outdated and offer very limited protection. We strongly recommend upgrading to a modern consumer unit with RCD protection to keep your home or business safe.
